I know that you can make your own soap by mixing just vegitable oil and caustic soada. If you want it to smell you put in smelly oils, if you want to add colour, you put in colorants. My question is this, if you put in too much caustic soada will it burn your hands, and if so then what is the right mixture. For example, 1 liter of oil to how many ounces of caustic soda. Also what colourant is used, is it standard food colorant, or colorant of another type. I am assuming certain types of colorants will was out and colour your hands which is not a desired side effect of soap considering its purpose Thanks for your help, it's a school project my nephew is doing and I dont want him to hurt himself because I heard caustic soada can cause nasty burns!
